Provo’s outgoing mayor John Curtis has championed the idea of replacing Provo’s current city center (built during the 1970s) with an expensive new one, which some estimate will cost about $59 million. This price is about ⅔ what Novell spent in 2000 constructing its high-tech Building H, which some believe may hold the current record for Provo’s most costly building. Certainly, Provo’s city government could use a headquarters, but let’s please ensure that it’s not overpriced—and, considering our city officers’ recent track record, we arguably have just cause for concern.
